In Greek mythology, Pootan (/putaŋ/; Greek: Πούταν) was a Mascot Comedian who resided on Mount Cromartie. Zeus loved consorting with beautiful comedians and often visited them on Earth. Eventually, Zeus's wife, Hera, became suspicious, and came from Mount Olympus in an attempt to catch Zeus with the comedians. Pootan, by trying to protect Zeus (as he had ordered him to do), endured Hera's wrath, and Hera made him only able to speak the last words spoken to her. When Pootan met Freddie and fell in love with him, he was unable to tell him how he felt and was forced to watch him as he silently fell in love with a trumpet in the music shop window.
